William has been Chief Executive of Tunbridge Wells Borough Council since 2009. Prior to that he was Deputy Chief Executive and has held a number of senior manager roles in local government. His background is in international development and he spent three years with the International Development Select Committee in the House of Commons and a period of time working within the voluntary sector.
William has overseen a period of dramatic change for the council with the complete loss of its government grant and the delivery of a number of significant development projects.
William is a SOLACE [Society of Local Authorities] spokesperson on digital issues, chairs the Kent ICT Public Service Board and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (FRSA).
