Enabling business transformation
Bristol City Council has a significant three-year plan to reduce costs, improve efficiency and change the way it delivers services.
A major part of this change programme required the consolidation of offices in the Bristol area and the transformation of the internal IT organisation from “IT focused” to “Business Focused”.
IT supporting business change
A key element of this change was to invest in a technology platform which would allow the council to comply with the Government’s One Public Estate programme by reducing its data centre estate. Bristol City Council chose Eduserv to provide a range of services through G-Cloud to help it:
- Plan the migration of the councils secondary data centre to a new facility;
- Take over the day-to-day running of the council’s IT infrastructure; and
- Provide a range of managed services to help the councils IT team focus on business and service related engagement.
Moving to the cloud
Eduserv has migrated Bristol City Council to a fully managed physical hosting service as part of an overall strategy for the council to move to cloud services, providing a foundation for the future delivery of digital services. The migration has enabled Bristol City Council to fulfil their ambition to consolidate property and free-up capital for the council. Moving to a managed infrastructure service has helped Bristol City Council’s ICT team focus on strategically aligning IT to the business instead of the day-to-day maintenance of the IT estate.
